Cleaning, Handling and Durability

Optical performance and sizes

See technical specifications.

Color of residual reflection

Aqua when observed at a perpendicular angle of light incidence. Reflection color might change under slope angles of light incidence.

Cleaning

Cleaning can be done as with ordinary glass by using non-alkali window cleaner, such as Isopropyl alcohol. Afterward, rinse with water or clean with denatured spirits and/or wipe with non-abrasive clean cloth or soft tissue. Avoid harsh cleaning materials such as scouring powder, steel wool and cloth with course metal treads in the weave or other sharp instruments; avoid cleaning agents containing ammonia, acid, silicone or fluoride, dishwasher and general purpose cleaners.

Handling

GroGlass Diamond physical qualities are similar to those of uncoated glass and require similar handling to avoid breakage or damage.

  • When transporting, keep the glass in a vertical position, basing the glass panes on the long edge.
  • Keep glass panes dry when storing and separated by layers of acid-free paper to protect against scratches and chemical stains from paper.
  • Protect glass surface from sharp objects, abrasive and adhesive surfaces.
  • When cutting and processing glass, make sure the working table and instruments are clean and free from splinters.

Durability

GroGlass Diamond has passed (light transmittance deviation <1% after the test) the following durability tests:

Abrasion Test
(ISO 9211)
The coating shows no damage after 500 strokes test with a felt pad under the load of 500g
Coating Adhesion
(ISO 9211)
The coating shows no damage after snap removal of firmly placed tape of size 25 x 12mm
UV and Condensation
(EN 1096-2)
The coating shows no changes in optical properties after 1000 hours cyclic exposure to UV (0,71 W/m2) at 60ºC, followed by condensation at 50ºC
Neutral Salt Spray
(EN 1096-2)
Salt fog application at 40ºC (4 hours), dry off at 60ºC (<35% RH) (2 hours), Humidity at 50ºC (>95% RH) (2 hours). Exposure time 504 hours, total number of cycles: 63.
Acid rain test The coating shows no changes in optical properties after exposure (immersion) in acid solution (HNO3, H2SO4 and NaCl dilution) for 120 hours.
Climate cycling test
(EN 1279-2)
The coating shows no changes in optical properties after exposure to a thermal cycling test- from -18ºC to +54ºC, at 90% relative humidity. The duration of the test is 1176 hours, 98 cycles.
